MIDLAND, Mich. (Oct. 15, 2007) — Dow Building Solutions is closing its Texarkana, Ark., and Tracy, Calif., factories as part of its reconfiguration of its polyisocyanurate assets in North America.
The business unit of Dow Chemical Co. also plans growth at its Charleston, Ill., and Pennsauken, N.J., facilities as part of the project.
The Tracy plant is expected to run through mid-December and the Texarkana facility until mid-January. Both factories produce rigid polyiso foam insulation for general insulation applications, such as residential and commercial walls and roofing.
Dow says low-asset utilization and low profitability led to the decision to close the two sites.
