BALTIMORE (Sept. 28, 2007) — Veyance Technologies Inc. is spending between $15 million and $20 million to automate, upgrade and add machinery at its North American plants, with the primary changes occurring at its Marysville, Ohio, factory.
The changes are being made in two phases and involve the installation of more automated equipment and processes along with upgrades on other machinery.
Phase 1 was aimed at improving the process of applying a rubber coating to fabric belting. The second phase deals with improving other aspects of the belt-making process right through the curing stage.
Veyance, the former engineered products division of tire maker Goodyear, also has plans on the drawing board to expand its manufacturing operation to Asia, although it has not made available any details of its plan.
