WILMINGTON, Del. (Sept. 20) — DuPont Co. plans to spend $500 million in a three-year period to expand Kevlar para-aramid fiber production in the U.S.
DuPont said the investment plan will begin later this year with an expansion at its site in Richmond, Va. The company didn't disclose what other projects were involved.
The expansion will increase DuPont's Kevlar capacity by more than 25 percent when completed in 2010, the firm said.
