BOWIE, Md. (Sept. 19) — Ten tire industry professionals were elected to three-year terms on the board of the Tire Industry Association, and two others will fill out the terms of dealers who recently sold their businesses.
TIA said the following directors will serve three-year terms: Gary Albright of Becker Tire & Treading, Great Bend, Kan.; Michael Baggett of Yokohama Tire Corp.'s OTR division, Santa Rosa, Fla.; Mike Berra of Community Tire Retreading, Maryland Heights, Mo.; Larry Brandt of MSB Tires L.L.C., Port Saint Lucie, Fla.; Randall Groh of U.S. Oil Co. Inc., Combined Locks, Wis.; Bob Katz of Nu-Tread Tire & Auto Service Center, East Boston, Mass.; James Raben of Raben Tire Co. Inc., Evansville, Ind.; Warren Secord of Warren Secord Tire Factory, Kent, Wash.; Doug Swanson of Modern Auto Care Inc., Eden Prairie, Minn.; and Stu Zurcher of Transwheel Corp., Huntington, Ind.
Mike Wolfe of Southeastern Wholesale Tire Co. in Raleigh, N.C., will serve a two-year term to fill the position being vacated by Steve Craven, who recently sold Craven Tire & Auto. Robert Ross of Hercules Tire Co. of Canada will serve one year to fill the post left by Barbara Briggs, who also sold her dealership, Briggs & Sons Tire.
Craven and Briggs will complete their service when TIA meets in Las Vegas during the Specialty Equipment Market Association Show, Oct. 30-Nov. 2.
Jim Short of Radial Tire and Bandag in Jasper, Ala., also will serve a one-year term to fill the vacancy left by Wayne Croswell of ASA Tire Systems, who was elected secretary of the association.
