COLOMBO, Sri Lanka (Aug. 24) — Laugfs Rubber (Pvt.) Ltd. is investing $3 million this year to add capacity at its plant in Millewa-Horana for solid tires for forklifts and other heavy machinery.
Laugfs Rubber, part of Sri Lanka´s Laugfs Holding Ltd., expects most of the solid tire production will be exported to Australia and South Africa.
Incorporated in October 2005, Laugfs Rubber is located about 25 miles southwest of Colombo with a plant in the heart of Sri Lanka´s rubber district. The firm´s portfolio consists primarily of small pneumatic tires for three-wheeled vehicles prevalant in Sri Lanka, but the company has indicated it´s developing tires for motorbikes, cars and light-duty commercial vehicles.
