FINDLAY, Ohio (Aug. 23) — Cooper Tire & Rubber Co.'s tire plant in Findlay continues to operate with a limited staff amid flooding in Northwest Ohio, where the state's governor declared a state of emergency.
"We've been working and we're open for business," a Cooper spokeswoman said. The firm's first concern was the safety of employees getting to the plant through water-clogged streets, she said.
The flooding in the city, the worst in nearly a century, was caused when the rain-swollen Blanchard River crested at seven feet above flood stage before receding April 22.
