BRITS, South Africa (Aug. 20) — Bridgestone Corp. has begun making run-flat tires for the local and international market at its Bridgestone South Africa Ltd. factory in Brits.
Bridgestone said the new capacity is the result of a substantial amount of upgrading at the Brits plant in South Africa´s North West Province. The company didn´t release the amount of investment or the size of the capacity but in 2004 had said it would invest $85.9 million to raise annual capacity 31 percent to 1.9 million units.
The site is the fourth Bridgestone plant to receive run-flat production capacity.
