FRIEDBERG, Germany (Aug. 16) — ContiTech Techno-Chemie has opened a $2.1 million, 53,819-sq.-ft. plant in Friedberg to produce hose for trucks and other commercial vehicles.
The facility is near the firm's headquarters plant in Karben, Germany. The company said consolidation of the truck lines at the Friedberg site has opened space at the Karben facility that has allowed ContiTech to increase output of products for passenger vehicles.
The new facility employs 162, ContiTech said, twice as many as were in the truck operations two years ago. ContiTech Managing Director Gunter Folich said a significant increase in sales of its truck lines sparked the consolidation of those products at the new plant.
