AKRON (Aug. 8) — Veyance Technologies Inc. has purchased the assets of Industrial Specialty Fabrics of Hogansville, Ga., for an undisclosed amount to strengthen its North America position in the conveyor belt industry.
Industrial Specialty Fabrics, which produces fabric for elastomer-lined belts, has been renamed Specialty Fabrics & Converting Inc., said Mike Braucher, marketing manager for Goodyear-branded conveyor belts.
He said unique fabric designs and construction contribute to the rip, tear and impact resistance of belts, as well as fastener strength.
The acquisition was made just a week following the purchase of Goodyear´s Engineered Products division by the Carlyle Group, which it renamed Veyance Technologies.
Braucher said the purchase a good indication that the firm has accelerated the pace of its business and is investing to better serve customers.
While it´s no longer part of Goodyear, Veyance continues to be the exclusive manufacturer and marketer of Goodyear Engineered Products.
SF&C employs more than 200 and has a broad knowledge of high-performance products from manufacturing fabrics for more than 75 years, he said.
