CARLSBAD, Calif. (June 26) — K&D Tire Wholesalers L.L.C. never imported or sold any of the 450,000 Chinese light truck tires named in a recall action, according to Dan Marsh, the company´s CEO.
Carlsbad-based K&D was identified as one of six possible importers/sellers of the Westlake, Telluride, Compass or YKS brand tires-or tires of similar construction-made by Hangzhou Zhongce Rubber Co. in Hangzhou, China, in a noncompliance report on the tires sent by Union, N.J.-based Foreign Tire Sales Inc., which purchased the tires from Hangzhou Zhongce until June 2006.
Marsh said in an interview he has imported Chinese tires, but never any made by Hangzhou Zhongce, and he has been trying to contact FTS and its attorney on the matter.
"It´s too bad," Marsh said. "When Firestone tires are recalled, no one says all U.S.-made tires are bad. But when one Chinese manufacturer´s tires are recalled, all Chinese tires are bad."
