CINCINNATI (June 22) — The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has fined Rumpke Tire Recycling, subsidiary of waste recycling firm Rumpke Consolidated Companies Inc., $17,000 for safety violations connected with the death of a temporary worker at Rumpke Tire´s Butler County, Ohio, facility.
Scott Johnson, 56, was gravely injured April 27 when he either fell or was pulled into a tire shredder.
He died of his injuries June 16.
Rumpke Vice President Jeff Rumpke said after Johnson´s death that the safety of each and every employee is of chief concern and that accidents like this are a reminder of the work that still needs to be done.
Rumpke Tire has teamed with TLC Industrial Temporary, Johnson´s employer, to promote a fund for Johnson´s family.
