TRELLEBORG, Sweden (June 21) - Trelleborg Group´s automotive business has opened a new facility in Dej, Romania, to make engine and chassis mounting systems.
The project was in response to increasing component volumes from the nearby Renault plant, where the Logan model is assembled. Trelleborg said it will employ 100 by the end of the year. The firm didn´t disclose the investment.
Trelleborg also said the factory will serve existing customers Audi, Dacia, Ford and Peugeot by providing local supply to their Romanian and Eastern European plants.
Peter Nilsson, Trelleborg president and CEO, said the new plant affirms the company´s "commitment to the developing automotive sector in Eastern Europe."
