BATON ROUGE, La. (June 19) — Albemarle Corp. said it will increase production of its Martinal-brand fine precipitated aluminum trihydrate flame retardants at a plant in Germany to meet growing global demand by the wire and cable field.
The firm said it will add 20,000 metric tons of capacity to the site in Bergheim, Germany, by the end of the year. The cost of the project wasn´t given.
Besides wire and cable, the retardants are used in other rubber and plastics applications, Albemarle said.
