NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 13) — Denny Mariola, manager of mileage sales at Bridgestone/Firestone's Akron office, will retire effective July 31.
Mariola, a company employee for 41 years, will run for a school board position in his hometown of Stow, Ohio, in the fall, and also was recently appointed by the mayor there to the Summit County Board of Health, according to the Nashville-based tire maker.
He began his career at the tire company in 1966 and was promoted to his current position in 1997.
"Denny is a great leader and is well respected not only by his colleagues in Nashville and Akron, but also by his peers in the industry," said Singh Ahluwalia, BFNT president, commercial products truck and bus tires.
A successor has not yet been named, the company said.
