BOSTON (June 11) — Audax Group has purchased Lewis-Goetz and Co. Inc., a Pittsburgh-based distributor of fabricated rubber industrial products.
Lewis-Goetz CEO David R. Goetz will continue to lead the distributor's management team. The firm serves the power generation, aggregate, coal mining, steel and general industrial markets.
Audax Co-CEO Geoffrey Rehnert said his company likes Lewis-Goetz's position as a value-added distributor and that the companies would work to increase business by "expanding into new geographic markets and making strategic-add-on acquisitions."
The terms of the purchase weren't revealed.
Boston-based Audax was founded in 1999 and describes itself as a leading investor in middle market companies. In May it completed the acquisition of Utex Industries Inc., a Houston-based manufacturer of custom engineered sealing products.
