AKRON (May 23) — Vogue Tyre & Rubber Co. has introduced a new 20-inch size of its Custom Built Radial VIII passenger tire targeting consumers looking to personalize their vehicles.
Company executives announced the latest addition to the all-season tire line—size 245/40R20 99H—at a press conference in Akron. The new tire, with initial production of 3,000, will be available in late July to car dealers, tire dealers and Vogue custom centers in car dealerships.
"This is the most exciting new product in several years," Vogue President Greg Hathcock said. "This product was needed in the line, and we think it will have a long product lifecycle."
The new size is designed primarily for full-size sedans. Customers often mistook the company's three 20-inch sport-utility vehicle tire sizes for passenger fitments, Hathcock added.
The H-rated tire sports the company's distinctive white sidewall and gold stripe, features that proved a "challenge to design" because of the low aspect ratio, said Ben Hyder, senior account engineer for Goodyear, which will manufacture the tire for Vogue at its Fayetteville, N.C., tire plant.
The Vogue Custom Built Radial VIII line is also available in four 17- and 18-inch sizes.
The Mount Prospect, Ill.-based private brand marketer also offers wheels, trim products such as ground effect kits, gold packages, wood dashboards and grills as well as performance products.
