SEOUL, South Korea (May 22) — Kumho Tire Co. Ltd. broke ground May 16 on a $90 million truck/bus radial plant in Nanjing.
The facility, its fourth tire factory in China, is scheduled to be completed in the second half of 2008. It will have an annual production capacity of 300,000 units.
Kumho said it plans to aggressively pursue the Chinese tire market by expanding production to include truck/bus radial tires. Demand for the tires has grown as a result of city development in China, the firm said.
Kumho is building a passenger tire facility in Changchun, China, that will go on line this year. The firm also has factories in Nanjing and Tianjin, China.
