NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 17) — Bridgestone/Firestone said it will extend a program that supplied relief goods on its transport ships to Liberia from aid organizations.
In July BFS started the program, under which it opened space on board its ships for donated humanitarian aid cargo. About $1.35 million worth of donated cargo has been carried in more than two dozen shipments, the firm said.
The tire maker said it had regularly transported food and equipment to the country on ships that carried back liquid latex and block/dry rubber.
