ALLIANCE, Ohio (May 4) - Andrew Ney, founder of Salem-Republic Rubber Co., died April 17 in Alliance. He was 81.
Salem-Republic was founded in 1974, a result of the purchase of the Aeroquip hand-built hose division. It specialized in large diameter material hose for the dredge, mining, industrial vacuum, steel, paper and aviation markets.
Ney, who still served as the company´s chairman at the time of his death, was a member of many industry-related groups, including Society of Automotive Engineers, Fluid Power Society, National Society of Professional Engineers, the Rubber Manufacturers Association and the Ohio Manufacturers Association, among others.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy; six children, including son Drew, who currently is Salem-Republic president; and 13 grandchildren.
