LUXEMBOURG (April 24) — The Flint Group, a Luxembourg-based supplier to the printing, converting, and graphic arts industries, has an agreement in place to acquire Day International Inc.
Under the agreement, reached April 20, Day will operate as a business unit of Flint, and Day CEO Dennis Wolters will continue to oversee the company's operations. The deal is expected to close in 30 to 60 days, subject to necessary regulatory approvals.
The Dayton, Ohio-based firm supplies printing blankets, sleeves, image transfer media and pressroom chemicals, but its history — dating back to 1905 — has included production of rubber belts, hoses, tires and rollers, as well as plastic products.
The company was founded as the Dayton Rubber Manufacturing Co. and from 1960 to 1986 was known as Dayco Corp. From 1987 to 1995, Dayco was owned by M.A. Hanna Co.
The combined revenues of Flint and Day are estimated to reach $3.32 billion in 2007, Day said in a release.
