WASHINGTON (April 17) — Goodyear, Wal-Mart and the American Automobile Association are among the entities collaborating with the Rubber Manufacturers Association on events leading up to and during National Tire Safety Week.
The preliminary events lead off this week with tire care and safety events co-sponsored by the RMA, Goodyear and Wal-Mart in Cincinnati, Atlanta, Jacksonville, Houston and Dallas.
Wal-Mart also is encouraging its Tire and Lube Express locations to offer free tire check lanes on April 21-22.
National Tire Safety Week will kick off April 23 with a press conference at California Highway Patrol headquarters in Sacramento, co-sponsored by the RMA, the Highway Patrol and the California Integrated Waste Management Board.
April 24, the RMA will sponsor a satellite media tour with Spike TV and Fox Sports Net personality Courtney Hansen as spokeswoman. Also, the RMA will conduct a 20-station radio media tour and distribute four public service announcements to 3,000 radio stations nationwide; one of the PSAs features NASCAR driver David Ragan.
Les Schwab Tire Centers and the CIWMB also will co-sponsor tire care and safety ads during the entire month of April, and 13 states to date have issued proclamations supporting National Tire Safety Week.
