AKRON (April 10) — Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. President Tadanohu Nagumo will be the keynote speaker at this year´s Tire Society meeting, scheduled for Sept. 25-26 in Akron.
Nagumo´s topic was not disclosed. The Tire Society is a nonprofit organization established to stimulate scientific and engineering development in the science and technology of tires. The 2007 meeting will be the society´s 26th annual conference.
Nagumo, 60, has been president of Yokohama Rubber since March 2004. He has been with YRC since 1969, joining the company as an engineering graduate of Shinyu University in Japan.
During his tenure, he has been a manager at the plant level, in charge of YRC´s Philippines subsidiary and in charge of tire production and planning corporatewide. Before becoming president, he was an executive director of YRC and president of the firm´s tire group.
In addition to Nagumo´s speech, Douglas Milliken from Milliken Research Associates Inc. and Bruce Engelmann from Abaqus Inc. will make plenary lectures during the two-day event.
Jim Maloney of Goodyear´s airship operations will be the awards banquet speaker on Sept. 25.
The Tire Society is still seeking technical paper submissions for the meeting. The deadline for submissions is June 1.
