NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 30) — Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire L.L.C. will increase prices on the company's Bridgestone, Firestone, Fuzion and associate brand tire lines, the company announced March 30.
The price hikes — generally up to 5 percent on passenger and light truck, truck and bus, and agricultural and off-the-road tires, with possible specific in-line adjustments in excess of 5 percent — will affect the replacement, original equipment and export channels.
The price increases are scheduled to gradually begin May 1.
Asahiko "Duke" Nishiyama, vice chairman and president of the North American unit, said the continuing upward spiral of raw material costs makes the action necessary and cannot be managed through efficiencies and increased productivity that are continually implemented at all levels of the company.
