PROCTOR, Vt. (March 20) — Omya A.G. has completed its acquisition of J.M. Huber Corp.'s precipitated calcium carbonate business, including 11 plants, for an undisclosed sum.
The purchase is aimed at increasing Omya's position in serving the paper industry, the company said, although PCC also is used in rubber compounding. Based in Switzerland, Omya's U.S. headquarters is in Proctor.
Omya obtained facilities in Kentucky, Tennessee, Pennsylvania and Saskatchewan in North America; five factory's in Europe; and one each in Russia and South America.
