NAPLES, Fla. (March 20) — Off-the-road tire retreader RDH Tire & Retread Co. has agreed to supply natural rubber and SBR buffings to powdered rubber producer Lehigh Technologies Inc.
The buffings and peels from OTR, truck and earthmover tires will be grinded with Lehigh's technology to produce its PolyDyne ultra-fine rubber powder. Anthony Cialone, founder and COO of Lehigh, said adding RDH as a preferred supply gives Lehigh a stock of reliable, fine rubber powder.
RDH is one of the 10 largest OTR tire retreaders in North America, processing more than 50 tires per day and using more than 3 million pounds of rubber compound annually.
The financial details of the deal weren't disclosed.
In February Lehigh signed a supply contract with MTR Inc., a Springfield, Tenn.-based scrap tire processor. Lehigh will host a crumb rubber feedstock processing facility at MTR's Jackson, Ga., tire collection and recycling plant.
