GREENVILLE, S.C. (March 2) — The new Ultraflex tire technology from Michelin has been recognized as one of the top innovations of the past year by agricultural journal "Farm Industry News" and its readers, the company said.
The publication presented Michelin Agricultural Tires with a "FinOvation" award at a Feb. 15 banquet during the 2007 National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, Ky. The periodical´s editors present the FinOvation awards each year to recognize the most innovative products published in "Farm Industry News" in the preceding year.
Bill Schafer, vice president of sales and marketing for Michelin Agricultural Tires, said the company´s Ultraflex technology has been engineered to allow farmers to run high-horsepower, four-wheel-drive tractors at inflation pressures that are as much as 20-percent lower than standard radials.
The magazine said that it rarely bestows its honor on a tire but that the awards panel and the magazine´s readers were so impressed with Ultraflex in the Michelin Axiobib radial tire that Michelin was an "obvious winner."
