AKRON (Feb. 20) — Goodyear plans to invest more than $100 million over four years at its Debica, Poland, plant to expand production of high-value tires.
Goodyear holds a 60-percent ownership stake in TC Debica, Poland´s largest tire maker, the Akron-based firm said. The Debica plant is one of Goodyear´s lowest cost facilities.
"This investment demonstrates our commitment to drive our growth by aligning low-cost manufacturing with high value-added tires," said Robert Keegan, chairman and CEO.
The investment will focus on high performance and ultra-high performance products though Goodyear did not specifically name products. The plant produces Goodyear, Dunlop and Fulda brands for Goodyear's European Union business unit.
