SAARISELKA, Finland (Feb. 13) — Nokian Tyres P.L.C. is introducing three new tires in a series of ride-and drive events at its winter tire testing facility in the northern Finnish province of Lapland that the company claims places it at the forefront of world winter tire technology.
The Nokian WR G2, designating the second generation of the WR passenger tire, is an all-weather tire with an asymmetrical tread design to give the tire outstanding high-speed, dry handling, slush and hydroplaning properties, Nokian officials said.
The Hakkapeliitta 5 and its sister tire, the Hakkapeliitta Sport Utility 5, are the new generation of the snow tires the Nokia, Finland-based company has been making since 1936. They boast square studs with square pins which have wider diameters than the company's previous studs, allowing for greater strength and a stronger grip on the road, they said.
