POMPANO BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 12) — Goodyear's "Spirit of Innovation" blimp will appear at the Daytona 500 this week, providing information to help tornado-disaster victims.
The airship will utilize its illuminated sign to provide a phone number and Web site where Daytona International Speedway visitors can direct their contributions to the Florida Disaster Recovery Fund, an agency established to provide relief to storm-stricken Floridians.
The blimp is scheduled to be in the skies in the Daytona area starting Feb. 14 and will provide aerial coverage of NASCAR's Craftsman Truck Series race Feb. 16, the Busch Series race Feb. 17 and the Daytona 500 Feb. 18.
The message on the blimp will say: "Your friends and neighbors à victims of Florida's recent tornadoes, need your help. Call the Florida Disaster Recovery Fund at 1-800-825-3786, or go to www.volunteerfloridafoundation.org."
