CHARLESTON, S.C. (Jan. 19) — The Rubber Manufacturers Association will co-sponsor "Scrap to Profit," a symposium on ground recycled rubber in plastics and rubber products, at the Francis Marion Hotel in Charleston April 16-17.
This is the first conference to concentrate on the use of ground rubber in molded and extruded rubber and plastics products, according to Michael Blumenthal, RMA senior technical director. Among the topics to be discussed at the meeting are ground rubber as a raw material, quality parameters for ground rubber, costs and supply of ground recycled rubber compared with virgin rubber, compounding with ground rubber and how to get started as a ground rubber supplier.
Co-sponsoring the conference with the RMA are Asphalt Rubber Technology Services at Clemson University and the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. For more information about the conference, contact www.rma.org.
