HAMBURG, Germany (Jan. 4) — The parent of Harburg-Freudenberg Maschinenbau GmbH is buying the rubber and plastics division of Italy´s Techint-Pomini.
The division, based in Castellanza, Italy, generates annual revenues of about $33 million from the sale of rubber and plastics mixing equipment.
The acquisition, for an undisclosed price, is subject to approval by cartel authorities. The buyer is Lubeck, Germany-based Possehl Group, the parent of Harburg-Freudenberg — formerly ThyssenKrupp Elastomertechnik.
Possehl is buying the Pomini unit from the Techint Group, an Argentinian steel producer.
Among Pomini´s product offerings is the variable intermeshing clearance mixer, which has found favor in recent years with European tire makers, including Continental A.G. and Pirelli Tyre S.p.A., which sourced them for their new plants in Romania.
The unit represents about a quarter of Techint-Pomini´s annual sales; the rest comes from roll-grinding equipment.
