IISRP to honor Asahi Kasei scientist
BST Elastomers Co. Ltd. has become the first company from Thailand to join the International Institute of Synthetic Rubber Producers, and the group said Yuichi Kitagawa has been selected as the winner of its technical award.
Kitagawa, who works for Asahi Kasei Chemicals Corp., will receive the award at the IISRP's Annual General Meeting in New Delhi in April.
Kitagawa's research has led to the development of advanced functionalized SBR for improved fuel economy with a balance of reduced rolling resistance combined with wet skid resistance, according to the institute.
BST, based in Bangkok, produces solid SBR and BR at its plant in Rayong.
Rohm and Haas reorganizes firm
Rohm and Haas Co. is realigning the company to accelerate its growth and profitability.
The company is reorganizing into three business groups-Electronic Materials, Specialty Materials and Performance Materials.
Specialty Materials includes packaging and building materials, such as plastics additives, adhesives and sealants businesses, as well as the graphic arts, paper, leather, textile and non-woven segments of the current Architectural and Functional Coatings business.
