SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Oct. 31) — Bayer MaterialScience L.L.C. will offer 80 contract employees at its manufacturing plant in South Charleston the opportunity to apply for permanent employment with the company.
The employees have been working at the plant under a general services agreement with Dow Chemical Co. Dow previously announced it will cancel the General pact on April 1, 2009.
Bayer MaterialScience was impressed with the long-term expertise, professionalism and dedication demonstrated by the contract employees. The company said it detailed the compensation and benefits package being offered at a series of informational meetings held Oct. 26-27.
"Over the years, these dedicated professionals have demonstrated their technical expertise and personal commitment to Bayer MaterialScience while working under the general services agreement with Dow Chemical, which was put in place in 1989, well before Bayer acquired the business in 2000," said Glenn W. Kraynie, vice president and site manager for Bayer MaterialScience's South Charleston facility
