SOUTH GATE, Calif. (Oct. 25) — Titan Industries has purchased the composite hose operations of MidsCo Inc. in a deal that the firm said will complement its rubber hose operations.
The acquisition brings MidsCo's MidFlex brand of composite hose and assemblies, which will expand South Gate-based Titan's offerings in the chemical and petroleum markets, according to Todd Mackey, Titan chief operating officer. It also will allow Titan to provide a broader range of offerings to its distribution customers that service dock applications.
Mackey said that the technology to produce composite hose requires a combination of traditional hand-built hose craftsmanship and state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques. This plays into Titan's strengths, he said, because Titan makes millions of feet of industrial rubber hose each year by machine, while also specializing in fabricating hand-built engineered hoses and assemblies.
MidsCo's plant is located just eight miles from Titan's factory in Spring, Texas. Terms of the agreement — along with sales, employment total and factory size for MidsCo — were not released.
