Belting manufacturer Intralox L.L.C. has introduced a plastic modular belt designed for long life in highly abrasive environments, including diptank applications in tire plants.
The company's engineers focused on upgrading the abrasion resistance capabilities of all components in the Series 1700 Flush Grid Nub Top system, not just the belt, the firm said.
Features of the design include double hinge rods with a unique profile to minimize cam-shafting, dramatically reducing wear in the hinge area, belt wear and changes in belt pitch; enlarged sprocket wear surface to reduce wear; an 8-percent product contact area; and a 37-percent open area, allowing for a more uniform flow of slurry, the firm said.
Intralox's Series 1700 Flush Grid Nub Top system provides minimal contact between the rubber and belt, resulting in excellent backside coverage of the anti-tack slurry, according to the company.
