NEWMARKET, Ontario (Oct. 3) — AirBoss-Defense, a division of AirBoss of America Corp., has received a $9.8 million order from the U.S. Joint Services for chemical warfare protective overboots.
The company will begin making the boots in the fourth quarter, with delivery spread over the next 12 months.
AirBoss-Defense received two contracts from the joint services in 2005, one for boots and the other for gloves. The boot order represents the first on the new contracts, which the company anticipates will run through 2010.
Because all products are subject to testing conducted by independent laboratories which have caused delays in shipping in 2006, the firm cautioned that it was difficult to predict the timing of when the sales would occur for financial purposes. However, it estimated ceiling contract values, if the U.S. exercises its options, at $88 million for the boots and $33 million for gloves over the life of the pacts.
