GREENVILLE, S.C. (Sept. 25) — Michelin North America, Inc. announced today it will seek new logistics service providers for its U.S. operations.
This follows a mutual decision by Michelin and TNT Logistics North America not to renew their contract for logistics services in the U.S. Michelin and TNT have agreed to transition nine U.S.-based distribution centers in a controlled and scheduled manner over a period of approximately seven months, the tire maker said.
The process of preparing for and implementing this transition has already commenced, and during this period, Michelin and TNT are committed to an orderly transition of operations on a site-by-site basis to providers selected by Michelin. These multiple new providers will focus on enhancing customer service in the future.
TNT will continue to serve Michelin at five of its Canadian Distribution Centers and the U.S. Independence, Va. tire and wheel mounting operation. Michelin Mexico was not covered by the TNT contract and is unaffected by this transition, Michelin said.
