STOCKHOLM, Sweden (Sept. 15) — George Caplea, president of the Trelleborg Group's Trelleborg Automotive business, will leave the company Oct. 1 and assume a position as head of North American operations for another non-competing firm.
Peter Nilsson, Trelleborg Group president and CEO, will assume responsibility for the Trelleborg Automotive business until further notice, the company said. At the same time, the business will intensify its focus on improving all aspects of global processes.
After Oct. 1, Caplea will work with Trelleborg in an advisory capacity.
"George has fantastic knowledge of and a broad network of contacts in the automotive industry," Nilsson said. "However, his position has involved a large workload, with extensive global travel, and it is understandable that George has now chosen to focus on a role with less travel, which allows more time for his family."
Caplea has been Trelleborg Automotive president since 1998 and an executive vice president of the Trelleborg Group since 2002.
