Huber to hike prices for specialties kaolin clay line
J.M. Huber Corp.'s Huber Engineered Materials unit said it will raise prices for its industrial specialties kaolin clay portfolio effective Oct. 1, or as current contracts allow.
The firm said many of the prices will increase significantly, depending on product grade, volume and form, but it didn't reveal the exact changes. Huber said the hikes are needed to offset rising raw material, energy, transportation and other costs.
IISRP, IRSG combine to issue rubber forecast
The International Rubber Study Group and the International Institute of Synthetic Rubber Producers have released their first combined forecast of natural and synthetic rubber consumption.
``Demand for Natural Rubber and various forms of Synthetic Rubber'' gives predictions on economic developments in nine key regions from 2006-2010, as well as detailed vehicle and tire production trends. The report also forecasts tire and non-tire NR and SR consumption, the group said.
Dow Chemical increases MDI prices 10 cents/pound
Dow Chemical Co. increased the price for all pure and polymeric methylene diphenyl diisocyanate by 10 cents a pound, effective Sept. 1, in the U.S. and Canada.
All polyurethane market segments and end-use applications are included in the price hike, the company said. The firm blamed rising energy and raw material costs, including the price of benzene, for the increase.
RohmNova to boost prices on emulsion polymers
RohmNova-a joint venture of Rohm and Haas Co. and Omnova Solutions Inc.-will increase prices for coating latices for the paper and paperboard markets, effective Sept. 15.
The company will hike the prices on styrene butadiene, styrene butadiene acrylonitrile and hollow sphere pigment by 4 cents per dry pound. The increase is due to continued escalation in feedstock, transportation and raw material costs, the company said. RohmNova's offerings include latex binders, coating additives and synthetic pigments for coated paper and paperboard.
