MIDLAND, Mich. (Aug. 17) — Dow Chemical Co. will increase the price for all pure and polymeric methylene diphenyl diisocyanate by 10 cents a pound, effective Sept. 1, in the U.S. and Canada.
All polyurethane market segments and end-use applications are included in the price hike, the company said.
"Rising energy and raw material costs continue to have a dramatic impact on our production costs and margins," says Tom Feige, North American product manager for Dow Polyurethanes, which produces products and formulated systems used in flexible and rigid foams, adhesives, sealants, coatings, and elastomers, as well as many other applications.
"In particular, the price of benzene has risen drastically, making this price increase necessary to help restore margins for our MDI product offering to more sustainable levels," he said.
