WYANDOTTE, Mich. (July 21) — BASF Corp. will increase prices for its Lupranate diphenylmethane diisocyanate products for rigid urethane applications, including laminates, appliances, and wood binders, in North America by 10 cents per pound, effective Aug. 1 or as contracts allow.
The price adjustment is necessary due to market supply conditions and escalating costs.
BASF's Lupranate MDI is a diisocyanate chemical that is an important basic product for making polyurethanes. MDI-based polyurethanes are used to produce rigid foams, elastomers, coatings, adhesives, sealants, and flexible slab and molded forms for the automotive, building and construction, industrial, and sports and recreation markets, among others.
