VILLEJUST, France (June 29) — Specialty chemical producer Eliokem S.A. is boosting capacity for elastomer modifiers and coatings resins at its plant in Le Havre, France.
Eliokem, formerly a Goodyear Chemicals unit, will effect the capacity increase by investing in new reactor capacity. The increased capacity is for the company´s Sunigum and Chemigum elastomer modifiers and Pliolite and Hydro Pliolite coatings resins.
"This project is our commitment to support increasing demand worldwide for products that have enjoyed leadership position in their segment for many years," stated Jacques Collonge, Eliokem president and CEO.
Earlier this year, the company made investments in the U.S. to increase capacity of its plant in Akron with a view to supporting the growth of its waterborne resins for floor coatings on the North American market.
The combined production capacity of the three plants — Le Havre, Akron and Ningbo, China — is in excess of 70,000 metric tons per year.
