FINDLAY, Ohio (June 28) — Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. is idling its four U.S. tire plants for unspecified periods, but a company spokeswoman said the shutdowns are part of regular breaks for maintenance and inventory adjustments.
She said the firm´s plants in Findlay; Albany, Ga.; Texarkana, Ark.; and Tupelo, Miss., are on temporary vacation shutdowns that occur from time to time. The scheduled startups vary by plant, she added.
Local news media in Arkansas said the Texarkana plant would shut down until July 8.
In January and February, Cooper reduced mold and production levels in Texarkana because of weak market conditions.
