MACEDONIA, Ohio (June 9) — Tokyo-based industrial rubber goods maker Fujikura Rubber Ltd. has acquired a controlling interest in molded elastomer seals and parts manufacturer IER Industries Inc.
Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
IER Industries will continue to operate out of its two U.S.-based facilities located in Macedonia and Liverpool, Pa., the company said. No changes in management or employee base are anticipated.
"This acquisition will provide IER a global presence and access to newer technologies and a broader products line, allowing us to serve our customers even better," said company CEO David Ferguson. "This strategic alliance will provide Fujikura Rubber with an increased presence in North America, as well as an increased presence abroad for IER."
IER´s offerings include custom molded rubber gaskets and seals; insert-molded, thermoset-bonded fluorocarbon and fluorosilicone seals; perfluoroelastomer seals; engineered sealing designs; and rubber compounds formulated to meet original equipment manufacturer specifications. The company serves the automotive, aerospace, marine, chemical, electronics, industrial, medical, and food and beverage markets.
