BRUSSELS (May 15) — European tire and rubber product makers have created a new association—the European Tyre & Rubber Manufacturers' Association—to replace the Bureau de Liaison des Industries du Caoutchouc as their representative body in Europe.
The main difference is that individual companies can become members of the ETRMA, whereas BLIC could take only national associations or federations as members. This change should boost members' responsiveness and involvement in European scene and dialogue, said Fazilet Cinaralp, secretary general of the ETRMA.
The management, personnel and agenda of the new group are very similar to those of its predecessor.
At its first board meeting held in Brussels, ETRMA members elected Francesco Gori of Pirelli & C. S.p.A. as president and Eric de Cromières of Groupe Michelin as vice president.
