ExxonMobil, Mitsubishi to dissolve joint ventures
ExxonMobil Chemical and Mitsubishi Chemical Corp. will terminate joint venture agreements for Mytex Polymers Asia Pacific Private Ltd. (Mytex AP) and Mytex Polymers Partnership (Mytex US) effective June 1.
ExxonMobil will transfer its interest in Mytex Polymers Inc.- owner of Mytex US-to a Mitsubishi Chemical affiliate in the U.S., while ExxonMobil's Asia Pacific unit will transfer its share of Mytex AP to Mitsubishi Chemical Singapore PTE Ltd.
Chicago Rubber Group takes publications online
The Chicago Rubber Group is going electronic with all its publications except its membership directory.
In its latest newsletter, the group said its directors decided to start distributing the newsletter electronically in December, the same month that the last printed issue will be mailed. E-mail alerts and postings on the group's Web site, www.chicagorubbergroup.com, will replace other print materials.
Cooper-Standard reaches agreement to keep name
Cooper-Standard Holdings Inc., the parent company of Cooper-Standard Automotive Inc., announced today that it has reached an agreement with its former owner, Cooper Tire & Rubber Co., to retain the Cooper-Standard Automotive trade name and associated trademarks.
``This agreement marks an important step in Cooper-Standard's evolution as a stand-alone company,'' said Jim McElya, Cooper-Standard president and CEO.
``For a number of years our customers have associated the Cooper-Standard brand with world class quality and service, technological expertise and outstanding value, and we are excited to be in a position to continue using the Cooper-Standard Automotive name to globally identify our leading product lines,'' he said.
ChemRep named ACM elastomers distributor
Japanese chemical and elastomer manufacturer Tohpe Corp. has named ChemRep Inc. as the North American distributor of its line of ACM polyacrylate elastomers.
Sakei, Japan-based Tohpe produces about 25 percent of the world's supply of polyacrylate elastomers, used to produce oil- and heat-resistant rubber products, such as oil pan gaskets, transmission seals, shaft seals, O-rings, and air duct hoses. Oil-resistant hoses, such as power steering hoses, ATF cooler hoses, and emission control hoses, also are made with polyacrylate elastomers.
Contil to increase tire prices by as much as 5%
Continental Tire North America Inc. will hike prices as much as 5 percent on all its Continental, General and private brand passenger and light truck tires, effective July 1.
Conti said continuing increases in raw material costs, including for natural rubber, necessitate the price adjustments.
AorTech awards license to St. Jude Medical
Biomaterials developer AorTech International P.L.C. has licensed St. Jude Medical Inc.'s Cardiac Rhythm Management Division to use AorTech's Elast-Eon polyurethane-silicone material in cardiac rhythm management leads.
St. Jude Medical will pay AorTech $2 million initially, then make further scheduled payments, dependent upon usage and performance, of $4 million over the next two years.
