HOUSTON (May 11) — ExxonMobil Chemical has introduced a line of compounded polypropylene for automotive applications. The firm currently is working to certify its new Performance Polyolefin grades to various automotive specifications.
The products will complement ExxonMobil´s neat and impact copolymer polypropylenes to offer a complete line for automotive interior, exterior and under-hood applications. The materials will be made at company facilities in North America, Europe and Asia.
The firm´s Exxpol Enhance-brand polypropylene and premium reactor thermoplastic polyolefins are used for bumper fascias, step pads and pillar trim for head impact. Its polypropylene can be found in other uses, including door and quarter-panel trim, lift-gate trim, consoles, fender liners and fan shrouds.
