BRUSSELS (April 5) — Bridgestone Corp. has appointed Takashi Urano chairman, CEO and president of Bridgestone Europe, replacing the retiring Minekazu Fujimura.
Urano, a 32-year Bridgestone veteran, most recently was director of the Middle East, Africa and Russia Division. He sees communication as the key to a successful future.
"My aim is that BSEU should grow steadily and profitably," Urano said, "sustained by strong sales in each of our locations. Europe is one of the most advanced markets for the automotive industry and our customers are highly demanding in terms of technology, quality and sales. Meeting their standards, and sharing our expertise and knowledge with our colleagues in other regions, is essential in building global leadership."
Urano has been involved in several international positions during this career, including general manager of Asia/Oceania Division and general manager, China department. He is an economics graduate of Keio University in Japan.
