WASHINGTON (March 20) — President Bush has signed the Stop Counterfeiting in Manufactured Goods Act into law.
Supported by a broad coalition of U.S. manufacturers including those in the auto aftermarket, the new law expands existing anti-counterfeiting measures by mandating the seizure and destruction of all machinery and equipment used to make counterfeit goods.
It also makes it illegal to produce labels, patches or medallions bearing unauthorized trademarks.
