SHAWBURY, England (March 14) — Rubber and plastics research firm Rapra Technology Ltd. has gone into receivership, and the administrators handling the case have laid off 21 of the firm´s 132 employees in Shawbury.
Rapra Technology — formerly the Rubber and Plastics Research Association — has been in business since 1919. It describes itself as Europe´s leading independent plastics and rubber consultancy, providing comprehensive consultancy, technology and information services for the polymer industry and industries using plastics and rubber in any component, product or production process.
Kim Rayment, a business restructuring expert with administrating firm BDO Stoy Hayward, said: "With loyal customer support, I´m hopeful that it will be possible to sell this long-established and well-respected business as a going concern and therefore secure future employment."
